Khi các examiners yêu cầu bạn mô tả nhà hàng mà bạn ưa thích, chắc hẳn đa số các mem đều nghĩ ra nhà hàng mình ưa thích phải không nào? Vậy nhưng làm thế nào để mô tả nó chân thực nhất, sinh động nhất để các examiners có thể tưởng tượng ra nhà hàng của bạn và chấm điểm cao cho bạn???

  • to be full-up: ăn đến nỗi không thể ăn thêm được nữa

embarassed Idiom

  1. Acquired taste: một thứ gì đó mà bạn không thích trong lần đàu nhưng sau nhiều lần thử lại trở nên thích nó.

e.g: Although the food there is not quite what poeple would call savoury, it becomes an acquired taste after a few visits. 

  1. Bitter pill to swallow: thực tế không hoàn hảo mà bạn phải chấp nhận

e.g: My manager’s attitude was a bitter pill to swallow but then it was my fault that I had reported to work at such a late hour.

  1. Bread and butter: để chỉ nghề nghiệp của một người

 e.g: What could be better than making a job like that your bread and butter?

  1. Butter up: nịnh bơ ai đó để đạt được điều gì

e.g: I had to butter up my boss the entire day to keep his anger towards me in check. 

  1. Cry over spilt milk: lo lắng về điều gì đó trong quá khứ

e.g: I guess there is no crying over spilt milk now because the product is here to stay and I also have to accept the fact that it isn’t much use to me.

  1. food for thought: cái gì đó để nghĩ tới

e.g: How your work can help the society and for the greater good is a food for thought for all of us I believe. 

  1. hard nut to crack: người khó tính

e.g: I knew he was a hard nut to crack but I never thought he would turn out to be so knowlegeable. 

  1. binge drinking/eating: ăn hoặc uống trong khoảng thời gian

e.g: The highlight of the event, for me at least, was the binge eating i got indulged in ! There was just so much food and I didn’t want to miss out on trying anything.
