Do you like painting?
It’s not something that I’ve done very much but I think I would like it because I’m naturally much more artistically inclined than I am academic. I always enjoy the chance to express myself creatively in any medium (= area/ field). I believe painting might be a great way to practise mindfulness as well as to express your emotions.
What kind of pictures do you like?
Answer 1: I think I prefer abstract pictures whether it’s a painting, a photo or a drawing because it’s much more emotionally expressive, mysterious and transcendental. Let’s take Picasso painting as a typical example, each person will interpret what they see in a unique way.
Answer 2: Well, I have a particular liking for landscape pictures, especially the scenic ones. I mean, looking at the scenery through a picture, I can feel the truth that the artist strive to capture as well as the tranquility. It sounds funny but pictures of landscapes always take me to a place of calmness, serenity and creativity.
Did you do art as a child?
Answer 1: I don’t remember learning Art at school although it must have been taught. Having said that, I would always doodle pictures at home when I was bored. And I would enjoy the creative process of making up storiesas I drew the pictures.
Answer 2: Certainly! Art is a compulsory subject for all children and I was no exception. Thanks to my fascinating art teacher, I still vividly remember that I could produce a lovely cat painting back then and achieved a high mark. To be honest with you, I’m still quite into Art even now.
Would you like to learn more about painting?
Yes, why not? I am really keen on learning how to paint more beautifully. Just a couple of years ago, I discovered my hidden talent in paintings at Tipsy Art class. It was such a revelation when I could draw a fabulous Christmas tree. That’s why, my new year resolution this year is to take up an advanced art class.

- Transcendental adjective /ˌtræn.senˈden.təl/: A transcendental experience, event, object, or idea is extremely special and unusual and cannot be understood in ordinary ways: huyền ảo, trìu tượng
Example: a transcendental vision of the nature of God (một tầm nhìn siêu việt về bản chất của Thiên Chúa)
- Mysterious adjective/mɪˈstɪə.ri.əs/: strange, not known, or not understood: bí ẩn
Example: She’s an actress whose inner life has remained mysterious, despite the many interviews she has given. (Cô ấy là một nữ diễn viên có cuộc sống nội tâm vẫn còn bí ẩn, bất chấp nhiều cuộc phỏng vấn mà cô ấy đã đưa ra.)
- Strive verb /straɪv/: to try very hard to do something or to make something happen, especially for a long time or against difficulties: cố gắng
