How often do you wear a watch?
Only once in a blue moon because these days, having a watch is not a necessity. It’s more a fashion statement or an accessory. Actually, back in the day, I did have a fancy DKNY one but it just broke down (or die a death/ or: it just malfunctioned) after 2 years and until now, I haven’t bought a new one yet.
What was your first watch look like?
Well, my first watch was very cheap but it had a cool function which was its glowed in the dark display. You know, my friends were really envious of it so I was pretty chuffed/ delighted about it back then.
What type of watch do you prefer?
Actually, there’s a particular brand which really tickles my fancy, named DW (Daniel Wellington). Its top-notch design is just so simple, elegant and classy. It also has a great leather quality which I think suits me perfectly.
Did anyone give you a watch as a gift?
So far not yet. Although I’m always yearning for somebody to give me a beautiful DW watch one day. To be fair, it’s quite costly to buy a watch as girl you know. And, on top of this, it’s difficult for people to choose an accessory that fit their style.
Why do people wear expensive watches?
Well, the biggest reason for sure is because wearing a watch is one of an indirect way to show off your status. It’s a good indication of somebody’s fortune. Also, as I briefly mentioned before, it’s a must-have accessory to mix and match with your outfits, to show how professional you are, especially for a businessman.

- Back in the day= used for talking about a time in the past, usually when you are remembering nice things about that time: ngày đó
Example: Back in the day, we had an apartment with a swimming pool.

- Die a/the death = to fail and end: bị hỏng
Example: The play, like so many before it, died the death after a week.
- Malfunction verb /ˌmælˈfʌŋk.ʃən/ = to fail to work or operate correctly: bị hỏng hóc
- Envious adjective /ˈen.vi.əs/ = wishing you had what another person has: ghen tị
Example: I’m very envious of your new coat - it's beautiful.
- Chuffed adjective /tʃʌft/ = pleased or happy: vui mừng, vui vẻ
Example: He was really chuffed with his present.
(Anh ấy thực sự vui mừng với món quà của mình.(
- Delighted adjective/dɪˈlaɪ.tɪd/= very pleased: vui mừng
Example: I’m absolutely delighted that you can come.
(Tôi rất vui mừng khi bạn có thể đến.)
- Tickle sb'sfancy = If something tickles your fancy, you like it and want to have it: thích cái gì đó
Example: Does anything on the menu tickle your fancy?
- Top-notch adjective/ˌtɒpˈnɒtʃ/ = excellent: hàng đầu
Example: That restaurant's really top-notch.
(Đó là nhà hàng thực sự hàng đầu.)
- Elegant adjective/ˈel.ɪ.ɡənt/ = graceful and attractive in appearance or behaviour: thanh lịch
Example: a very elegant suit (một bộ đồ rất thanh lịch)
- Classy adjective/ˈklɑː.si/ = stylish or fashionable: sang trọng, thời thượng
Example: That’s one classy vehicle you've got there.
(Đó là một chiếc xe sang trọng mà bạn đã có.)
- Yearn verb /jɜːn/ = Long for something = Long to do something = to wish very strongly, especially for something that you cannot have or something that is very difficult to have: khao khát mong mỏi có cái gì
Example: Despite his great commercial success he still yearns for critical approval.
(Mặc dù thành công lớn về mặt thương mại, ông vẫn khao khát được phê duyệt.)
- To be fair= considering everything that has an effect on a situation, so that a fair judgment can be made: công bằng mà nói thì
Example: He’s done the job badly but, to be fair, I gave him very little time to do it.
(Anh ấy đã hoàn thành công việc rất tệ, nhưng công bằng mà nói, tôi đã cho anh ấy rất ít thời gian để làm việc đó.)
- Costly adjective/ˈkɒst.li/ = expensive, especially too expensive:
Example: a costly purchase (mua hàng tốn kém)
- Show off /ʃəʊ/ = to behave in a way that is intended to attract attention or admiration, and that other people often find annoying: khoe hoang
Example: She only bought that sports car to show off and prove she could afford one.
(Cô chỉ mua chiếc xe thể thao đó để khoe và chứng minh rằng cô có thể mua một chiếc.)
- Fortune noun/ˈfɔː.tʃuːn/ = a large amount of money, goods, property, etc.:
Example: She inherited a fortune from her grandmother.
(Cô được thừa hưởng một gia tài từ bà ngoại.)
