Talk about a season or time of the year that you enjoy the most. You should say:
– What do you do during this season?
– Describe what the weather is like.
– Why do you like it more than other seasons?
My favorite season of the year is definitely summer. As you may have noticed, the north of Vietnam has 4 distinguishing seasons, cool spring with drizzlings, hot summer with heavy rains, warm autumn with leaves changing colors and cold winter with fog. I love all the seasons, nevertheless, I find summer the most fascinating and exciting.
Many people complain that summer in the north is just too hot. Sometimes it can get above 40 degree C. I must admit that it can be a little bit uncomfortable to have to walk somewhere under the boiling sun. And then come the sudden rains which can spoil outdoor parties. However, once you get used to it, you can completely plan your activities to avoid the heat and still enjoy summertime.
There are a bunch of reasons why this season is my favorite. First thing first, I love swimming. Of course I can also swim in other seasons at indoor pools but it just doesn’t feel the same. I love lying on a chair under the sun after coming out of the water, feeling the sun on my body, listening to some good music. It is so relaxing, which, unfortunately, I can only do in about 4 months of the year. Besides, I am an outdoor person who enjoy outdoor activities. In other seasons I often find myself stuck at home looking out of the window feeling miserable. The sight of the sun does cheer me up. I always feel like it’s forever to wait for summer to return. What’s more, we students have a long summer break from school which can last for 2 months. This means I can travel or take part in projects which I simply don’t find time for at other times. This long holiday is really necessary for me to refresh myself and get ready for a new semester. I seriously have thought about keep moving to places where it is summer once I can afford it.

A- Hot weather (Thời tiết nóng)
1- Stifling (hot, uncomfortable, hard to breath): ngột ngạt
2- Humid (hot and damp): nóng ẩm
3- Scorching (extremely hot, can be used in positive contexts): nóng như thiêu đốt
4- Boiling (very hot, usually used in negative contexts): nóng cháy da
5- Heatwave (a period of very hot temperatures): Thời gian trong ngày có nhiệt độ cao
B- Wet weather (Thời tiết ẩm ướt)
1- Damp (mildly wet weather): ẩm ướt
2- Drizzle (very light rain): mưa phùn
3- Downpour / pouring down (very heavy rain): mưa xối xả
4- Torrential rain (extremely heavy rain): mưa như trút nước
5- Shower (raining for a short duration): mưa rào
C- Windy weather (Thời tiết có gió)
1- Breeze (gentle wind, usually used in a positive way): gió nhẹ
2- Blustery (very windy, usually negative): gió lớn, mạnh
3- Gale force wind (extremely windy): cơn gió mạnh
D- Mist and fog (Sương và sương mù)
1- Haze/hazy (light mist, usually caused by heat): sương mù mỏng (do hơi nóng tạo ra)
2- Mist/misty (light fog, usually caused by drizzle): sương mù (do mưa phùn tạo ra)
3- Fog/foggy (quite thick, associated with cold weather): sương mù (dày, do thời tiết lạnh gây ra)
4- Smog (mixture of fog and pollution): sương mù (gồm cả sương mù lẫn khói bụi)
