Từ ATTENTION là một từ xuất hiện khá nhiều trong Speaking nên việc nắm được các cụm hay như PAY METICULOUS ATTENTIONS TO DETAIL (tỉ mỉ từng tí một) hay Draw sb’s attention to… (lôi kéo sự thu hút của ai đến…) là cực kỳ quan trọng và cần thiết. 1. Centre of attention: trung tâm của sự chú ý
Example: He’s a rock star so he’s the centre of attention.
2. My attention isn’t on X: sự tập trung của tôi không nằm ở…
Example: My attention wasn’t on my work. My mind was elsewhere.
3. Pay meticulous attention to detail: tỉ mỉ đến từng chi tiết
Example: His paintings are so realistic. He pays meticulous attention to detail.
4. Require immediate attention: yêu cầu sự chú ý/ tập trung ngay lập tức
Example: Sorry, I’ve got to rush. I’ve just had a telephone call which requires my immediate attention.
5. Pay close attention to: chú ý rõ đến cái gì..
Example: Pay close attention to everything I say. It’s important that you follow the instructions.
6. Pay insufficient attention to X: không có đủ sự chú ý cho
Example: 80 people drowned when the ferry sank. The owners had paid insufficient attention to safety.
7. Call our attention to: kêu gọi sự chú ý đến…
Example: The fire inspector called our attention to the fact that some members of staff were not following the correct procedures.
8. Draw sb’s attention to X: lôi cuốn sự chú ý của ai đến với…
Example: We’re organising a campaign to draw people’s attention to the harmful effects of food addictive.
9. Hold my attention: giữ sự chú ý/ tập trung
Example: The play was disappointing. It didn’t hold my attention for very long.
10. Distract public attention away: làm sao lãng đi sự chú ý của công chúng..
Example: The election is in four months. This tax cut is obviously designed to distract public attention away from the government’s failures.
