Đã bao giờ bạn muốn mô tả trời lạnh mà lại “lí bí” từ chưa? Trời lạnh ngoài từ COLD còn rất nhiều từ phân theo từng cấp độ LẠNH của thời tiết bên ngoài.
1. Be (as) cold as ice : to be extremely cold – cực kỳ lạnh
Example: Feel my toes - they're as cold as ice.
2. Chilly (a) /ˈtʃɪl.i/: (of weather, conditions in a room, or parts of the body) cold – giá lạnh
Example: The bathroom gets chilly in the winter.
3.Biting (a) /ˈbaɪ.tɪŋ/: used to describe weather that is extremely cold, especially when it causes you physical pain – rét buốt
Example: a biting wind/ biting cold
4. Frosty (a) /ˈfrɒs.ti/: very cold, with a thin layer of white ice covering everything – băng giá, giá rét
Example: It was a cold and frosty morning.
5. Bone-chilling (a) /ˈbəʊnˌtʃɪl.ɪŋ/: extremely cold – lạnh thấu xương
Example: The air at that altitude was bone-chilling.
6. Glacial (a) /ˈɡleɪ.ʃəl/: extremely cold – lạnh buốt
Example: glacial temperatures/ a glacial period
7. Wintry (a) /ˈwɪn·tri/: typical of winter’s cold, windy, and snowy weather – lạnh lẽo
Example: You’ll definitely need snow tires on your car for the wintry weather around here.
