1. Mixed up (a) /ˈmɪkst ˈʌp/: temporarily confused
Example: I just got mixed up, and thought she wanted us to come early.
2. Out of your depth = not having the knowledge, experience, or skills to deal with a particular subject or situation
Example: I was out of my depth in the advanced class, so I moved to the intermediate class.
3. Feel/be lost = to not feel confident about what to do or how to behave
Example: It’s not unusual to feel rather lost when you first start college.
4. Bewildered (a) /bɪˈwɪl·dərd/: confused and uncertain
Example: He sat up in bed, bewildered, unsure of where he was.
5. Dazed (a) /deɪzd/: very confused and unable to think clearly
Example: You’re looking rather dazed - is something wrong?
Example: a dazed expression
6. Muddled (a) /ˈmʌd.əld/: badly organized or confusing
Example: a muddled legal situation
7. Puzzled (a) /ˈpʌz.əld/: confused because you do not understand something
Example: I’m really puzzled that I haven't heard from Liz for so long.
8. Perplexed (a) /pəˈplekst/: confused, because something is difficult to understand or solve
Example: Police were perplexed by the killing because there didn't seem to be any motive.
