1. The apple of one’s eye– something or someone very precious or dear (Apple of the eye thật ra chính là con ngươi – bộ phận quan trọng nhất trong mắt chúng ta. Vậy nên thành ngữ này dùng để chỉ những người thật sự quan trọng đối với bạn.)
Example: “She was fond of all her dogs, but little Bella was the apple of her eye.”
2. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade– (proverbial) focus on the good in a bad situation and take action accordingly - or make the most of a bad situation: : Hãy biến khó khăn thành cơ hội
Example: “I know that you are upset about losing your job, but now is the perfect time to start your own business like you've always wanted to do. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!”
3. To be full of beans– to have a lot of energy and enthusiasm: tràn đầy năng lượng4. To spill the beans – to give away a secret or a surprise: tiết lộ bí mật
Example: "Does Steven know about our plan?" "Yes, someone must have spilled the beans.”
5. To be (like) two peas in a pod– to be very similar (Giống nhau như tạc)
Example: “The twins are like two peas in a pod.”
6. A couch potato– a person who watches a lot of television and does not have an active life = a chronic television viewer (một người nghiện truyền hình)
Example: My younger sister is a great couch potato; she can watch TV 24 hours a day
