How do you organise your time?

Well, I use a number of different techniques to enable me to spend time wisely. The most effective time management tool for me is absolutely using a “To-do-list”. I can prioritise my tasks efficiently as well as schedule appointments with accuracy. The other useful methods are probably using an alarm clock to wake me up early in the morning or using the Pomodoro - this is the popular device to ensure maximum productivity.

Do you think people organize time in the same way?

I don’t really think so because we all have different biological clocks and lifestyles. Having said that, there’s no denying fact that successful people all share certain habits in managing time. In fact, a high percentage of billionaires or entrepreneurs are highly aware that time is money. That’s why they are all early risers (= early birds) and know how to make the most of their time everyday. 

Do you think it is important to be on time?

Absolutely yes! / Certainly! We should never be later under any circumstances because if we are late, it reflects badly upon our character. Whereas, if you are punctual, at the same time it will show how professional you are as well as show your respect to the person that you are going to meet. For these couple of reasons, therefore, to me being late is something that happens very seldom.

How do you feel when you are late for an appointment?

I would surely feel extremely embarrassed and frustrated. For example, if I had a job interview or a dentist appointment, being late would no doubt give a very bad impression. However, under some circumstances, unexpected incidents are inevitable (Or: unexpected incidents may occur) and throw time out of your control. For instance, having an accident or getting stuck in traffic.

How do you feel when others are late?

It really depends on the situation. If it’s a reasonable excuse, I will feel alright. Otherwise, it will really get on my nerves because they do not respect my time and it’s quite rude, to be honest. Punctuality is crucial. There’s a famous saying: “Treat your partner in the way you want to be treated”. I think it’s so true. If I’m always on time, I would expect the same from anyone else.

1. Entrepreneur noun /ˌɒn.trə.prəˈnɜːr/: someone who starts their own business, especially when this involves seeing a new opportunity: nhà khởi nghiệp

4. Prioritise verb /praɪˈɒr.ɪ.taɪz/: to decide which of a group of things are the most important so that you can deal with them first: ưu tiên

Example: You must learn to prioritize your work.

5. Accuracy noun /ˈæk.jə.rə.si/ = the fact of being exact or correct: sự chính xác

Example: We can predict changes with a surprising degree of accuracy.

6. Device noun /dɪˈvaɪs/: an object or machine that has been invented for a particular purpose: thiết bị 

Example: Rescuers used a special device for finding people trapped in collapsed buildings. : Lực lượng cứu hộ đã sử dụng một thiết bị đặc biệt để tìm người bị mắc kẹt trong các tòa nhà bị sập.

7. Biological clock noun /baɪ.əˌlɒdʒ.ɪ.kəl ˈklɒk/: đồng hồ sinh học

Example: Long-haul flights can seriously disrupt your biological clock. (Các chuyến bay đường dài có thể làm gián đoạn nghiêm trọng đồng hồ sinh học của bạn.)

8. Having said that = despite what has just been said: mặc dù vậy

Example: He forgets most things, but having said that, he always remembers my birthday. (Anh ấy quên hầu hết mọi thứ, tuy nhiên, anh ấy luôn nhớ ngày sinh nhật của tôi.)

9. Circumstance noun/ˈsɜː.kəm.stɑːns/: a fact or event that makes a situation the way it is: hoàn cảnh

Example: Obviously we can't deal with the problem until we know all the circumstances. (Rõ ràng chúng ta không thể giải quyết vấn đề cho đến khi chúng ta biết tất cả các tình huống.)

10. Early bird noun /ˈɜː.li ˌbɜːd/ = early riser = a person who gets up or arrives early: người dậy sớm
11. Seldom adverb /ˈsel.dəm/ = rarely = almost never: hiếm khi

Example: Seldom do we receive any apology when mistakes are made.

12. Embarrassed adjective /ɪmˈbær.əst/ = feeling ashamed or shy: xấu hổ

Example: I was too embarrassed to admit that I was scared.

13. Frustrated adjective /frʌsˈtreɪ.tɪd/ = feeling annoyed or less confident because you cannot achieve what you want: bối rối, thất vọng 

Example: Are you feeling frustrated in your present job? (Bạn đang cảm thấy thất vọng trong công việc hiện tại của bạn?)

14. Incident noun /ˈɪn.sɪ.dənt/: an event that is either unpleasant or unusual: sự cố

Example: A youth was seriously injured in a shooting incident on Saturday night.(Một thanh niên bị thương nặng trong vụ nổ súng vào tối thứ Bảy.)

15. Excuse noun /ɪkˈskjuːs/: a reason that you give to explain why you did something wrong: lời bao biện

Example: I’ve never known him to miss a meeting - I'm sure he'll have an excuse. (Tôi không bao giờ biết anh ấy bỏ lỡ một cuộc họp - tôi chắc chắn anh ấy sẽ có một cái cớ.)

16. Get on sb's nerves= to annoy someone a lot: khiến ai đó khó chịu

Example: Please stop making that noise! It really gets on my nerves.

17. Punctuality noun /ˌpʌnktʃuˈæləti/: the habit of arriving or happening at the time that has been agreed: sự đúng giờ

Example: There is a bonus scheme for employees who show good performance and punctuality. (Có một chế độ thưởng cho nhân viên thể hiện hiệu suất tốt và đúng giờ.)

18. In time= early enough: kịp làm gì đó…

Example: If we don't hurry up, we won't be in time to catch the train. (Nếu chúng ta không nhanh lên, chúng ta sẽ không kịp bắt tàu.)
