CUCUE CARD:

Talk about a business person you admire.
You should say:
  • who he/she is
  • what their business is
  • how you learned about him/her
and explain why you admire him/her.

SAMPLE ANSWER:

Several entrepreneurs have inspired me in recent years.

When I want to remind myself how to stay true to my own vision, I look at Mark Zuckerberg, one of the founders of Facebook, who has remained true to his principles during the rise of his company.

I admire the determination, innovation and confidence that he showed when establishing and then operating the widely popular social network.

This extends to his decision to continue wearing a hooded jacket and a T-shirt to work after he was appointed CEO, as he had almost always done.

I have often said that business people should not dress like clones, so I was dejected to see how they criticized Zuckerberg for wearing his hoody on Wall Street when he launched his company's initial public offering.

I hope that those who disapproved so much will come to their senses one day.

In search of inspiration in terms of innovation, I look at Steve Jobs, as do many designers, inventors and entrepreneurs.

His death deeply affected many people around the world.

He was a man who did not finish his university studies and who fought cancer for many years, whose personal and professional successes gave hope to many.

Due to his effort, the various Apple devices have given us new ways to connect and engage with the world, including those with disabilities; This was a huge source of pride for Steve.

In search of a reminder about the importance of hard work and common sense, I look at British businessman Lord Alan Sugar, who has a lot to teach us all.

A man of humble origins, he was a pioneer in the manufacture of affordable word processors in Great Britain and then created a successful real estate company as well.

More recently, he has been the protagonist of the British version of the television program The Apprentice, making the business world interesting and accessible for a new generation of entrepreneurs.

For inspiration to convince business leaders to run their businesses in a socially responsible way, I enjoy Jamie Oliver and Jochen Zeitz, who have created successful companies that make a difference.

As President of Puma, Jochen is the forerunner of an environmental loss and profit reporting tool that helps companies assess the impact their products are having on our planet and our communities, and allows customers to know what products are sustainable.

I have watched Jamie for many years and I have been impressed by his dynamism as he has strengthened his restaurant business and forged his brand worldwide through his various television programs, all while devoting his efforts to teaching people to eat better, attracting public attention to the poor quality of school lunches, and running his company that trains unemployed young people to become professional chefs.

These guys give me hope that people's attitudes about the social responsibilities of companies are really changing.
