(Introduction 1):

As a huge film enthusiast, there are countless incredible movies which I can think of. But a very particular outstanding/ astounding film with a unique theme which I would love to share with you now, is a Korean film named “Parasite”. This is the very first Korean film to receive the award Golden Palm at the 2019 Cannes film festival.

(Introduction 2)

Well, this topic instantly recalls me of an incredible Korean film - named “Parasite”. The thing that struck me is the juxtaposition issue of class division between the rich and the poor which has been addressed in countless shows such as the Downtown Abby series. Parasite still brilliantly portrays this theme through the invasion of the lifestyle snatchers. Unanimously, it won the Golden Palm at the 2019 Cannes film festival.

(Body)

This film has received widespread critical acclaim and massive success as a mega-blockbuster. I actually had a whale of a time watching this great film with a very close friend of mine - Tra, just about a week ago. This film combines various genres from mystery to comedy to family tragedy.

So, basically, the film begins with the scene of an impoverished Korean family living in a damp, stinky basement flat at the end of the shabby street. The whole family are all penniless, unemployed and live on a small income job by folding pizza boxes. Ki-woo - the son of the family gets a stroke of fortune when his old school friend helps him to get a lucrative tutoring job from a fabulously lavish Park family.

When the Park family reveals that they also need an art tutor, Ki-woo suggests his sister (while concealing their relationship) and cunningly securing jobs for his entire family later on. The plan runs smoothly and it seems that the wealthy Parks could be a meal ticket for the whole crooked family, all pretending to be complete strangers to each other.

The most heartbreaking moment of this film is when the little kid of the prosperous family has noticed the typical rotten stink smell of the poor family. The director successfully delivers an empathic aura by displaying how miserable the poor society are when they see themselves in contrast to the rich.

What I absolutely impress about this film is the creative plot developments. When the poor family slowly climbs up to a higher socioeconomic ladder, the other poor person is kicked brutally to the bottom pit of poverty. They have no choice but to kill each other to survive.

Conclusion: All in all, Parasite is definitely worth watching. It’s a wake-up call for all of us as human beings regarding endless greediness and jealousy.
