Well, throughout my life, I consider myself very lucky to have so many fruitful friendships. And what I’m going to share with you today is about a very good friend of mine - Trang Anh, also as the most colourful and warm-hearted teenager that I have ever known.


I actually first came to know her at the British council a couple of months ago when we both registered on an intensive IELTS course there.

It’s so emotional and funny when thinking back to that day as my memories came flooding back. You know, we instantly hit it off right from the start and could spark a conversation so naturally. I guess / suppose this is mainly because we share a lot of things in common. We are both crazy fans of Gordon Ramsay, Harry Porter and David Beckham. Amazingly, she also has a strong passion in achieving a truly British accent which I have always yearned for since I was young. We both really enjoy each other’s company so we hang out a lot at weekends, simply watch our favourite films or go shopping. I think we really share a great chemistry.

I often call her Lia as a nickname because it sounds adorable. Lia, to me is a charming teenager with a round face, chubby cheeks and beautiful sleek shoulder-length hair. Oh, she really has an eye for fashion as well. You know, even though, she’s not really tall but she really knows how to mix and match her outfits, taking advantage of her lovely complexion.

The thing that I absolutely love about Lia is her bubbly and charismatic personality. You can feel she has a passionate look in her eyes and a dazzling smile, no matter what happens. Actually, the other day, I was really down in the dumps but she cheered me up and turned my stressful situation into a happy one. That’s why I really admire her positive attitude towards life.

On top of that, despite being born with a silver spoon in her mouth, Lia really understands the value of money and hard work. She always treat people with respect and does a lot of volunteer projectsto help the poor (underprivileged). You know, she even studies so hard that she has been consistently a class monitor 5 years in a row and passes all her exams with flying colours.

All in all, I have to say that she is indeed a lucky star in my life and I do hope that our friendship never sinks.

Example: despite his great commercial success he still yearns for critical approval (mặc dù thành công lớn về mặt thương mại, ông vẫn khao khát được phê duyệt.)

Example: sometimes i just yearn to be alone. (đôi khi tôi chỉ khao khát được ở một mình.)

  1. Enjoy each other’s company: thực sự thích sự bầu bạn với nhau
  2. Really share a great chemistry: thực sự có sự hoà hợp tuyệt vời

  5. Underprivileged - without the money, possessions, education, opportunities, etc. That the average person has: nghèo khó

Example: children from an underprivileged family background are statistically more likely to become involved in crime. (trẻ em từ một gia đình kém may mắn có nhiều khả năng tham gia vào tội phạm.)

  1. Pass all her exams with flying colours: vượt qua các kì thi với điểm số cao chót vót
  2. With flying colours: if you do something such as pass an exam with flying colours, you do it very successfully: làm/ đỗ cái gì đó 1 cách thành công
  3. All in all: considering all the different parts of the situation together: nói tóm lại thì

Example: all in all, i think you've done very well.
