1. Not be just a pretty face = If someone is not just a pretty face, they are not only attractive but also intelligent: không chỉ xinh đẹp mà còn cực thông minh, tốt bụng
Example: ”How did you know that?" "Well, I'm not just a pretty face, you know."
2. Head and shoulders above someone/something = much better than other people or things: giỏi/ vượt trội hơn hẳn những người khác…
Example: Natasha is head and shoulders above the other dancers in her age group.
3. Twist someone’s arm = to get someone to do what you want by making it very difficult for him or her to refuse: thuyết phục ai làm một việc gì đó.
Example: I didn’t want to go to the exhibition, but Linda twisted my arm.
4. Butterflies in your stomach = a feeling of being very nervous or frightened
Example: I’m meeting her parents tonigh
5. Elbow grease (n) /ˈel.bəʊ ˌɡriːs/: a lot of physical effort: những người lao động chân tay chăm chỉ.
Example:The polish needs a cer
6. Step on someone’s toes = to upset someone, esp. by getting involved in something that is that person’s responsibility: làm mích lòng ai, xúc phạm ai bằng cách chỉ trích họ hay chen vào việc của họ
Example: It’s a very competitive business – you can’t afford to step on too many toes.
7. Get itchy feet = to start to want to travel or do something different: sự thích thú, đam mê và sẵn sàng xách ba lô lên của những tín đồ cuồng du lịch.
Example: After three years in the job she began to get itchy feet.
8. Pull sb's leg = to try to persuade someone to believe something that is not true, as a joke: trêu đùa ai…
Example: Is it really your car or are you pulling my leg?
9. Take it on the chin = to accept unpleasant events br
Example: They really threw the book at him but he took it all on the chin.
10. Give/lend sb a helping hand = to help someone: giúp đỡ ai
Example: These tax cuts will give industry a helping hand.
11. A pain (in the neck) = someone or something that is very annoying: phiền phức
Example: That child is a real pain in the neck.
