Example: No, I don’t, I would say parents were very much stricter than in the past.
2. Actually, I don’t agree with that…thực sự thì cháu không đồng ý với điều này
Example: Actually, I don’t agree with that. I suppose the buses in Hanoi are very cramped and rather unhygienic.
3. To be honest, I don’t agree with that…thực lòng mà nói thì cháu không đồng tình lắm…
Example: To be honest, I don’t agree with that. People in Vietnam tend to be more drawn to action movies above all else.
4. That’s not exactly how I see it, I would tend to say….đó không phải là cách cháu nhìn nhận, cháu nghĩ là..
Example: That’s not exactly how I see it, I would tend to say parents are much more tolerate now towards their children.
5. I have to disagree, I believe… cháu phải bất đồng quan điểm vì cháu tin rằng…
Example: I have to disagree, I believe making a list brings tremendous benefits to make us become a much more organised person.
6. No, not really, I think… không hẳn là vậy ạ, cháu nghĩ…
Example: No, not really, I think it depends on the person irrespective of their age.
7. Not at all, actually I would say the opposite is true, I think… không chút nào, thực ra cháu nghĩ điều ngược lại mới là đúng
Example: Not at all, actually, I would say the opposite is true, I think grass is always greener on the other side.
8. No, quite opposite actually. I’d say…: dạ không, cháu nghĩ ngược lại thì đúng hơn…
Example: No, quite opposite actually, I would say they have very different tastes in music in this day and age.
9. I don’t really go along with this viewpoint… cháu không đồng tình với quan điểm này
Example: I don’t really go along with this viewpoint. From my observation, this is simply not feasible for many companies.
10. I beg to differ/disagree = a way of saying "I do not agree" that is polite, but may sound unfriendly: cháu không nghĩ vậy
Example: I beg to differ, I think the textiles industry is one of the industries which consumes the most amount of natural resources and massively impacts the environment.
11. Not a chance = there is no possibility: không đời nào
Example: ”Do you think I could pass for a 21-year-old?" "Not a chance!"
12. Not a bit = not in any way: không chút nào
Example: ”Are you getting tired?" "Not a bit."
