1. Over the top (abbreviation OTT): too extreme and not suitable, or demanding too much attention or effort, espe
Example: The speech was a bit OTT.
2. Keep a straight face = to manage to stop yourself from smiling or laughing: không thể nhịn cười
Example: She tried to keep a straight
3. Hit the nail on the head = to describe exactly what is causing a situation or prob
Example: I think Mick hit the nail on the head when he said that what's lacking in this company is a feeling of confidence.
4. Sweep someone off their feet = to cause someone to fall suddenly and completel
Example: He brought me flowers, kissed
5. Get the wrong end of the stick = to not understand a situation cor
Example: Her friend saw us arrive at the party together and got the wrong end of the stick.
6. Excuse/pardon my French! = said when you are pretending to be sorry for using a word that may be considered offensive: xin lỗi / thứ lỗi cho tôi
Example: Pardon my French, but that's a damned shame!
7. Tie the knot = to get married: kết hôn
Example: So when are you two going to tie the knot?
8. Weather the storm = If someone or something weathers the storm, they successfully deal with a very difficult problem: vượt qua một giai đoạn khó khăn.
Example: In the next few days we will see if the ambassador can weather the political storm caused by his remarks.
