1. Give a hundred percent = to do everything you can in order to achieve something: cống hiến hết mình
2. Make up for lost time = to enjoy an experience as much as possible because you did not have the opportunity to do it earlier in life: làm nhiều hơn, cật lực hơn
Example: I didn't travel much in my twenties but I'm certainly making up for lost time now.
3. Stay the course = to continue doing something until it is finished or until you achieve something you have planned to do: tiếp tục bền chí đi đến cùng mà không bỏ cuộc
Example: She interviewed dieters who had failed to stay the course to find out why they had given up.
4. Pull your weight = to work as hard as other people in a group: cố gắng hết sức
Example: The others had complained that Sarah wasn't pulling her weight.
5. Get cracking = to start doing something quickly: bắt đầu nhanh chóng
Example: Get cracking (= hurry), or we'll miss the train.
6. Jump through hoops = to have to do a lot of things that seem difficult or unnecessary in order to achieve something: chịu đựng những cuộc thử thách gay go để hoàn tất một việc gì,
Example: We had to jump through hoops to get my Dad admitted to hospital.
7. Knuckle down— /ˈnʌk.əl/: to start working or studying hard: làm việc chăm chỉ
Example: You’re going to have to really knuckle down (to your work) if you want to pass your final exams.
8. On a roll = experiencing a period of success or good luck: đang có đà
Example: They’ve won nine games in a row, so they’re obviously on a roll.
9. Bend over backwards = to try very hard to do something good or helpful: cố hết mình
Example: Mann insisted that he bent over backwards to
10. Burn the candle at both ends = to work or do other things from early in the morning until late at night and so get very little rest: làm cạn sức lực
Example: Since starting my new job, I have been burning the candle at both ends
