Trong Quý 2 năm 2019, đề thi Speaking vẫn yêu cầu các bạn học viên "Describe an intelligent person you know well" (mô tả 1 người thông minh mà bạn biết rõ) . Với topic này việc nắm được các từ đồng nghĩa với từ INTELLIGENT cực kì quan trọng. Thật thú vị là trong tiếng Anh chúng mình có khá nhiều SYNONYMS - từ đồng nghĩa với INTELLIGENT.
1. Smart cookie (n) /ˌsmɑːt ˈkʊk.i/: a clever person who makes good decisions
Example: He is a smart cookie, adjusting his songs to fit his audiences.
2. A fast thinker: người thông minh, nhạy bén
Example: You are a fast thinker
3. Quick-witted (a) /ˌkwɪkˈwɪt.ɪd/: thinking very quickly - nhanh trí
Example: You have to be quick-witted enough to talk yourself out of a difficult situation.
4. Clear-sighted (a) /ˌklɪəˈsaɪt.ɪd/: having a good understanding of a particular subject and the ability to make good judgments about it
Example: Simon has a clear-sighted vision of the company's future.
5. Exceptional (a) /ɪkˈsep.ʃən.əl/ = unusual; remarkable: cực giỏi
Example: His ability is exceptional.
6. Knowledgeable (a) /ˈnɒl.ɪ.dʒə.bəl/: having a great deal of information - rất hiểu biết
Example: He is very knowledgeable about the history of the city.
7. Learned /-nid/ (a): having or showing great learning - có học thức
Example: a learned professor / He is a learned man.
8. Well-informed (a): having or showing a thorough knowledge - có kiến thức uyên thâm
Example: a well-informed person/essay.
9. Brilliant (a) /ˈbriljənt/: very clever - rất thông minh
Example: a brilliant scholar.
10. Clever (a) /ˈklevə/: quick to learn and understand - thông minh
Example: a clever child.
11. Bright (a) /brait/ = clever - sáng dạ
Example: Mike is one of the brightest students in the class.
Như vậy, chúng ta đã có thêm 11 từ đồng nghĩa để mô tả một người thông minh, giúp bạn có thêm vốn từ tham gia các bài thi Speaking. Tuy nhiên, hãy năng dùng các collocations như: HIGHLY INTELLIGENT, A SMART COOKIE hay A SHARP- MINDED PERSON ... để nhận band điểm cao hơn trong Speaking ngay nhé!
