Topic ANIMALS đang được hỏi lại ở quý 2 ở part 2, 3 rất nhiều, nên việc nắm được các vocab liên quan đến ANIMALS là việc cực kỳ thiết yếu. Nhiều bạn vẫn còn chưa biết những từ cực cơ bản như FEATHER (lông vũ), BEAK (mỏ) hay FIN (vây cá)… Nếu không biết những vocab này, bạn sẽ gặp rắc rối trong việc tả loài động vật ưa thích của mình.
1. Beak (n) /biːk/: the hard, pointed part of a bird's mouth: mỏ
Example: Birds use their beaks to pick up food.
2. Feather (n) /ˈfeð.ər/: one of the many soft, light things that cover a bird's body, consisting of a long, thin, central part with material like hairs along each side: lông vũ (chim)
Example: peacock/ostrich feathers
3. Tail (n) /teɪl/: a part of an animal's body, sticking out from the base of the back, or something similar in shape or position: đuôi
Example: The dog wagged its tail excitedly.
4. Mane (n) /meɪn/: the long, thick hair that grows along the top of a horse's neck or around the face and neck of a lion: cái bờm (của con sư tử)
5. Tusk (n) /tʌsk/: either of the two long, pointed teeth of some animals such as elephants: ngà voi
6. Trunk (n) /trʌŋk/: the long, tube-shaped nose of an elephant: vòi voi
7. Wing (n) /wɪŋ/: the flat part of the body that a bird, insect, or bat uses for flying, or one of the flat, horizontal structures that stick out from the side of an aircraft and support it when it is flying: cánh
Example: the delicacy of a butterfly's wings
8. Paw (n) /pɔː/: the foot of an animal that has claws or nails, such as a cat, dog, or bear: chân (có vuốt của mèo, hổ...)
Example: I found paw prints in the kitchen.
9. Claw (n) /klɔː/: one of the sharp curved nails at the end of each of the toes of some animals and birds: vuốt (mèo, chim), càng (cua...)
Example: Our cat likes to sharpen her claws on the legs of the dining table.
10. Horn (n) /hɔːn/: a hard, pointed, often curved part that grows from the top of the head of some animals, or the hard substance of which a horn is made: cái sừng
11. Hide (n) /haɪd/: the strong, thick skin of an animal, used for making leather: da
12. Scale (n) /skeɪl/: one of the many very small, flat pieces that cover the skin of fish, snakes, etc: vảy cá
13. Fin (n) /fɪn/: a thin vertical part sticking out of the body of especially a fish or an aircraft that helps balance and movement: vây cá Example: We could see the fin of a shark as it slowly circled our boat.
