1. The light of somebody's life = người mà ai đó yêu thương nhất.
Example: My mother is the light of my life.
2. 'A guiding light' : có nghĩa bóng là người có tầm ảnh hưởng lớn đến bạn.
Example: The professor always encouraged my work, she has been a guiding light for all of us.
3. A light at the end of the tunnel: được dùng chỉ hi vọng rằng hoàn cảnh sẽ tốt lên.
Examle: I’ve been so stressed about my exams, but knowing I would soon see my family was really the light at the end of the tunnel.
4. To light someone’s fire = to cause someone to be attracted or exciting
Example: Come on, baby, light my fire! (the song)
5. To give (something) the green light = to approve or allow something: cho phép ai đó làm điều gì đó
Example: The boss has given my plan the green light so let’s start working.
6. A red-light district = a place where there is a lot of prostitution: phố mại dâm
Example: The red-light district in Amsterdam is very famous for sex shops.
7. See the light = If you see the light, you suddenly understand something you didn't understand before.
Example: I used a PC for years but in the end I saw the light and bought a Mac.
8. Come to light = If facts come to light, they become known publicly: được công khai
Example: Fresh evidence has recently come to light that suggests that he didn't in fact commit the murder.
