1. Spruce sb/sth up /spruːs/: to make someone or something cleaner and tidier
Example: I thought I'd have a shave and generally spruce
2. Spiff sb/sth up /spɪf/: to make someone or something look more stylish, or cleaner and tidier: chải chuốt
Example: He’s really spiffed up his wardrobe since he started his new job.
3. Jolly good = used to express approval of something that someone has said or done, or to show that you have heard or understood what someone has said:
Example: ”I've left all the papers you need on your desk." "Oh, jolly good.”
4. Ravishing (a) /ˈræv.ɪ.ʃɪŋ/: very beautiful: xinh tuyệt trần
Example: She looked ravishing/She was a ravishing sight in her wedding dress.
5. Chuffed/thrilled to bits = extremely pleased: cực hạnh phúc
Example: She was thrilled to bits with her present.
6. Cheeky (a) /ˈtʃiː.ki/: playful; mischievous: lém lỉnh, láu cá
Example: She’s got such a cheeky grin.
7. Crystal clear = very easy to understand: cực dễ hiểu
Example: She made it crystal clear that she was in charge.
8. Hold down the fort = hold the fort = to deal with a situation, or do someone's job, while they are away: tạm thời tiếp quản cái gì khi ai đó vắng mặt….
Example: Will you hold the fort while I go for lunch?
9. Guffaw (v) /ɡʌfˈɔː/: to laugh loudly, especially at something stupid that someone has said or done: cười ha há
Example: He guffawed with delight when he heard the news.
10. Devoted (a) /dɪˈvəʊ.tɪd/: extremely loving and loyal: tận tuỵ
Example: a devoted fan/husband
