PART 2: LONG TURN

Topic Card 1: 

Describe an interesting trip. You should say: 

• When you took the trip 
• Where the place you visited was
• What you did during the trip 

and explain why it was interesting. 

Sample Answer:

Last year, I had a pleasant trip to Paris. It was a package tour organised by our college. We took aeroplane for about 10 hours. Stepping out of the terminal in Airport Charles de Gaulle, I was amazed by gorgeous scenes of the airport. 

We stayed in a hotel in the area called Montmartre. It's near the centre of town and dotted with elegant cafes and teahouses. Despite the jet lag, we visited th streets and local shops near the hotel with great joy. On the second day of our stay, we had a boat trip up the River Seine and climbed the Eiffel Tower, the famous monument in the middle of Paris. The view from up there was terrific. The third day we went to Notre Dame, which is a large cathedral with beautiful stained glass windows. I have been dreaming of visiting it since I read the renowned novel by Victor Hugo - The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The cathedral impressed me deeply for its grand exterior and magnificent history. We also visited the famous gallery, the Louvre. The valuable artifacts and masterpieces in it dazzled our eyes. 

We stayed in Paris for only four days, which was too short for visiting a city with a brilliant history. I hope to have a chance to appriciate the city's culture thoroughly.
