1. I reckon … tôi nghĩ rằng….
Example: “I reckon if we go that way, we’ll get lost.”
Example: “He’s not going to like this surprise birthday thing, I reckon.”
2. I suppose… /səˈpəʊz/ = to think that something is likely to be true: tôi giả định là…
Exampe: We all supposed him to be German, but in fact he was Swiss.
3. In my honest opinion …
Example: “In my honest opinion, we shouldn’t be selling these toy knives to kids. Just feels wrong, you know?”
4. I’d say that …
Example: “I’d say that it’ll only take a few days to build this. Then we can go home!”
5. The way I see it …tôi thấy rằng…
Example: “The way I see it, those guys are doing their job well.”
Example: “The way I see it is that you’ve got to spend money to make money. Am I right?”
6. If you ask me …: nếu bạn hỏi tôi…
Example: “If you ask me, you need to throw a few more eggs at the building. It’s not quite covered.”
7. It seems to me that … Theo tôi thì….
Example: “It seems to me that he’s a little too — how shall I say it — drunk to be Santa Claus.”
8. As far as I can tell …tôi có thể nói rằng…
Example: “As far as I can tell, we were wrong. We were all wrong! Sorry about that.”
9. As/so far as I know = used to say what you think is true, although
Example: He isn't coming today, as far as I know.
10. As/so far as I'm concerned = used to say what your personal opinion is about something: Theo như tôi biết thì…
Example: She can come whenever she likes, as far as I'm concerned.
11. Off the top of your head = from the knowledge you have in your memory: Theo tôi biết thì…
Example: ”What's the capital of Mauritania?" "I don't know off the top of my head, but I could go and look it up."
