Để giúp cho khả năng SPEAKING của chúng mình có màu sắc hơn cũng như có độ hóm hỉnh hơn, việc nắm được các cách nói đồng nghĩa, tự nhiên mà người bản ngữ hay dùng là điều vô cùng quan trọng. Những cụm này bạn hay xem phim ảnh hay các show truyền hình thực tế sẽ nghe thấy nhiều vô vàn, cùng IELTS Trangbec take note và áp dụng ngay vào các bài nói của mình để lấy được điểm speaking cao nhất có thể
NOTE: riêng cách nói TAKE A CHILL PILL là slang (tiếng lóng) nên chúng mình không được dùng trong IELTS SPEAKING TEST. Còn các cụm còn lại chúng mình vô tư dùng.
1. Hold your horses = used to tell someone to stop and consider carefully their decision or opinion about something
Example: Just hold your horses, Bill! Let's think about this for a moment.
2. Bear with sb /beər/: to be patient and wait while someone does something
Example: If you'll just bear with me for a moment, I'll find you a copy of the drawings.
3. Loosen up = To loosen up is also to relax, esp. after being nervous
Example: She was nervous at the beginning of the interview but loosened up after a while.
4. No sweat = If you say that something is no sweat, you mean that it will not be difficult or cause problems
Example: ”Can you fix my car for me?" "No sweat!”
5. Keep your shirt on = keep your hair on: said to tell someone to stop being so angry or upset
Example: Keep your shirt on! Your car isn't even scratched!
6. Chill out /tʃɪl/: to relax completely, or not allow things to upset you
Example: Chill out, Dad. The train doesn't leave for another hour!
7. Give it a rest = said when you want someone to stop talking about or doing something that is annoying you
Example: Oh, give it a rest, can't you?! = Calm down = Don’t be so aggressive.
8. Simmer down — /ˈsɪm.ər/: to become less angry or excited about something
Example: Come on kids! Simmer down and get on with your work!
9. Take a chill pill! = To calm down; to stop being angry, anxious, fearful, etc (slang)
Example: Take a chill pill, will you? Panicking about being late won't make me drive any faster.
