Topic BIG CITIES đang được hỏi cực nhiều cho cả kỳ thi IELTS speaking (nói) và Writing (viết), topic viết gần đây nhất cũng có hỏi bạn về việc xây dựng PUBLIC OUTDOOR SPACES ở các đô thị (town and cities) hỏi ngày 27/3/2021. 1. Urban (a) /ˈɜː.bən/: of or in a city or town: thuộc về đô thị
Example: urban development
 
 
2. Urban living: lối sống đô thị
Example: Her aim is to improve urban living and working conditions on the basis of good governance.
 
 
3. Urban life/ lifestyle: lối sống đô thị
Example: Many women in rural areas have an urban lifestyle.
 
 
4. City life: cuộc sống thành phố
Example: City life always lures the people of all classes for its comfort and for its cultural, economic and commercial facilities.
 
5. Metropolis (n) /məˈtrɒp.əl.ɪs/: a very large city, often the most important city in a large area or country: thành phố lớn
Example: a sprawling/bustling/modern metropolis
 
6. Metropolitan (a) /ˌmet.rəˈpɒl.ɪ.tən/: relating to a large city: đô thị 
Example: a metropolitan area
 
 
7. Municipal (a) /mjʊˈnɪs·ə·pəl/: of or belonging to a town or city: thành phố trực thuộc trung ương
Example: municipal services
 
 
8. Municipality (n) /mjuːˌnɪs.ɪˈpæl.ə.ti/: a city or town with its own local government, or the local government itself: đô thị
Example: The municipality provides services such as water and rubbish collection.
 
 
9. Cosmopolitan (a) /ˌkɒz.məˈpɒl.ɪ.tən/: containing or having experience of people and things from many different parts of the world: đa văn hoá
Example: New York is a highly cosmopolitan city.
 
 
10. Concrete jungle (n) /ˌkɒŋ.kriːt ˈdʒʌŋ.ɡəl/: an ugly grey area of a city where people live in closely crowded apartment buildings and there is little space and no trees or grass: khu rừng bê-tông (thành phố)
Example: We do not want it to be turned into a concrete jungle. 
 
 
11. Urban sprawl (n) /ˈɜr·bən ˈsprɔl/: the spread of a city into the area surrounding it, often without planning: phát triển đô thị (lan rộng quá đà)
Example: Huge tourist attractions have produced choking urban sprawl.
 
 
12. Urban renewal: /ˌɜː.bən rɪˈnjuː.əl/:  the improvement and sometimes replacement of buildings in a city, especially of whole neighbourhoods of housing - đổi mới đô thị
Example: The neighborhood has since been the subject of several urban renewal efforts.
 
 
13. Urban jungle (n) /ˌɜː.bən ˈdʒʌŋ.ɡəl/: city life, especially the unpleasant parts of it: rừng rậm đô thị
Example: Traffic noise, pollution, huge concrete buildings - how can people survive in the urban jungle?
 
14. Urban regeneration: tái tạo đô thị
Example: In regard to urban regeneration, they can bring three advantages.
