Topic FOOD đang xuất hiện với tần suất khá nhiều ở cả IELTS speaking lẫn IELTS Writing ở quý 1/2021. Cụ thể các topic writing mới toanh mới thi tuần vừa rồi cũng có hỏi mem về chủ đề FOOD. Để làm tốt topic này chúng mình hãy cùng IELTS Trangbec ôn lại những collocations tuyệt hay và phổ biến đi với từ MEAL
 
1. Nourishing meals = meals which make you healthy and strong: bữa ăn đầy đủ chất dinh dưỡng
Example:  Preparing good nourishing family meals was a challenge with eight mouths to feed.
 
 
2. Ready meal (n) /ˈred.i ˌmɪəl/: a meal cooked and bought at a shop but taken somewhere else, often home, to be heated and eaten: bữa ăn làm sẵn
Example: I never eat crisps or ready meals or takeaways. 
 
 
3. A Gourmet meal = high-quality meal: bữa ăn hảo hạng
Example: Gourmet meals can be served on board by your personal butler.
 
 
4. A substantial meal = a large meal: bữa ăn no đủ/ lớn
Example: He typically has five substantial meals a day.
 
 
5. A slap-up meal = unusually large and good: thưởng thức bữa ăn đặc biệt ngon
Example: We usually had one slap-up meal a day.
 
 
6. A square meal (n) /ˌskweə ˈmɪəl/:  a satisfying meal that fills you and provides you with all the different types of food that your body needs in order to stay healthy: 1 bữa ăn thịnh soạn
Example: You need a good square meal.
 
 
7. A light meal = consists of a small amount of food, or of food that is easy to digest: bữa ăn nhẹ
Example: It is eaten for breakfast or as a snack or light meal.
 
 
8. A hearty meal = large and very satisfying: bữa ăn đủ đầy
Example: The finished dish is almost like a warm steak salad and is a delicious and hearty meal. 
 
 
9. Meal ticket (n) /ˈmɪəl ˌtɪk.ɪt/: a type of ticket that you can exchange for a meal: phiếu ăn
Example: The cost of meal tickets was one dollar for adults and fifty cents for grade school children. 
 
 
10. Luncheon voucher (n) /ˈlʌn.tʃən ˌvaʊ.tʃər/: a type of ticket given to people by their employer that they can use instead of money for buying meals in some restaurants: phiếu ăn
 
 
11. Mealtime (n) /ˈmɪəl.taɪm/: a time at which a meal is eaten: giờ ăn 
Example: The only time our family gets together is at mealtimes.
 
 
12. Make a meal (out) of sth = to spend more time or energy doing something than is necessary: dành quá nhiều tâm huyết…
Example: I only asked for a summary of the main points but she's making a real meal out of it.
