Topic CLOTHES đang trở lại lại với tốc độ chóng mặt ở quý 2 (May - Aug 2019), hãy cùng học trước các topic vocabulary nhỏ với BEC, mở đầu bằng các collocations cố định cực hay với từ DRESS trước nhé để nói thật tốt nào. Các topic chia nhỏ khác để hỗ trợ cho topic này BEC sẽ cập nhật liên tục cho các bạn nhé
1. Dress down (phrasal verb) /dres/: If you dress down for an occasion, you intentionally wear informal clothes of the type that will not attract attention - ăn mặc đơn giản xuề xòa.
Example: She always tried to dress down on her first date with a man.
2. Dressed (up) to the nines = to be wearing fashionable or formal clothes for a special occasion: ăn diện, ăn mặc bảnh bao
Example: Jackie went out dressed to the nines.
3. Dressed to kill = intentionally wearing clothes that attract sexual attention and admiration: ăn mặc đẹp hấp dẫn để thu hút sự chú ý của người khác và khiến họ khen ngợi trầm trồ
4. Dress up (something) (phrasal verb) /dres/: to make something look better than it usually would: ăn mặc chỉnh tề, ăn diện
Example: Satin and gold dress up a basic pair of jeans.
5. Dress for the occasion = to wear clothes suitable for a particular event
6. Dress code (n) /ˈdres ˌkəʊd/: an accepted way of dressing for a particular occasion or in a particular social group: Dress Code là những quy tắc ăn mặc hàng ngày, phù hợp với từng hoàn cảnh
Example: Most evenings there's a party and the dress code is strict - black tie only.
