Tất cả các cụm bên dưới đều giúp bạn có thể tả về người bạn của mình cực tuyệt như topic: describe your childhood friend, describe your close friend hay bất cứ topic tả người nào mà bạn muốn đề cập!
1. Childhood friend: a friend that a person had when both of them were children: bạn thời thơ ấu
Example: We are childhood friends.
2. Mutual friends = friends that you share with someone else: bạn chung
Example: She’s my mutual friend.
3. A family friend = a person who has known and spent time with one's family: người bạn thân thiết của với gia đình
Example: She is a family friend.
4. Circle of friends: nhóm bạn
Example: She's got a great circle of friends
5. Have/share a lot of things in common = có nhiều điểm chung
Example: Alex and Jamie share/have a lot of things in common.
6. Cement a friendship = strengthen a friendship: thúc đẩy tình bạn
Example: Spending several weeks on holiday together has cemented their friendship.
7. A friend in need is a friend indeed = this meansthat a friend who helps you when you really need help is a true friend: 1 người bạn trong lúc khó khăn mới là 1 người bạn thực sự
8. Strike up a friendship = start a friendship: bắt đầu tình bạn
Example: Tom struck up a friendship with a girl he met on holiday.
9. Hit it off = to like someone and become friendly immediately: tâm đầu ý hợp
Example: Lily and Chloe hit it off immediately.
10.A shoulder to cry on = someone who is willingto listen to your problems and give you sympathy, emotional support, and encouragement: 1 bờ vai chắc để dựa vào
Example: I wish you'd been here when my mother died and I needed a shoulder to cry on.
11. Through thick and thin = if you supportor stay with someone through thick and thin, you always support or stay with them, even if there are problems or difficulties
Example: She has stuck with me through thick and thin.
12. Fair-weather friend (n)/ˌfeə.weð.ə ˈfrend/: someone who is a good friend when it is easy to be one and who stops being one when you are having problems: bạn phù phiếm (lúc cần không thấy đâu)
Example: “She’s only a fair-weather friend.”
13. Friend zone (n) /ˈfrend.zəʊn/: The state of being friends with someone when you would prefer a romantic or sexual relationship with them: chỉ đơn thuần là bạn
Example: You know you're in the friend zone when she asks you for relationship advice.
14. Friend with benefits (fwb) (n) /ˌfrend wɪð ˈben.ɪ.fɪts/: a friendwith whom you also have a sexual relationship: một mối quan hệ trên mức thân thiết giữa 2 người bạn thân với nhau.
Example: They’re not a couple - i guess you'd describe them as friends with benefits.
