Trong các bài thi nói IELTS, đặc biệt là PART 3, mem sẽ được hỏi rất nhiều các câu hỏi WHY (tại sao).. Để trả lời câu hỏi này hay nhất và tăng màu sắc cho câu nói của mình, bạn hãy bỏ túi ngay những collocations tuyệt đỉnh đi với REASON mà BEC đã liệt kê bên dưới
1. Simple reason: lí do đơn giản
Example: Our son isn’t going to university for the simple reason that he can’t afford it. And neither can we.
2. Particular reason: lí do cụ thể
Example: Why do you want to know her name? Oh, no particular reason. I was just wondering.
3. Sentimental reasons: những lí do tình cảm…
Example: She kept all her late husband’s letters and diaries for sentimental reasons. They reminded her of all the good times that they had together.
4. Have a valid reason for: có lí do hợp lí cho…
Example: Do you have a valid reason for being absent from work or did you just take a day off?
5. For no apparent reason: không có lí do rõ ràng…
Example: For no apparent reason, the man opposite me in the train suddenly got up and started screaming and shouting. I think he must have been ill.
6. Main/primary reason: lí do chính…
Example: The Guardian may be left-swing, but that’s not why I buy it. The main/primary reason I read it is because it reports places that other papers don’t.
7. There’s no earthly reason…chả có chút lí do nào…
Example: There’s no earthly reason why you should feel guily. The accident had nothing to do with you.
8. For some accountable/inexplicable reason,….: vì 1 lí do nào đó không thể lí giải nổi…
Example: For some unaccountable reason, my letter of application never arrived at the office.
9. For some obscure reason,….vì lí do khó hiểu…
Example: For some obscure reason, he keeps his money in his left shoe.
9. For some perverse reason,…: vì lí do ngoan cố…
Example: He’s desperately ill, but for some perverse reason he refuses to see a doctor.
10. For purely personal reasons: chỉ đơn thuần là vì các lí do cá nhân…
Example: She wants to change her job for purely personal reasons.
11. For legal reasons: vì lí do pháp lý…
Example: The man cannot be named for legal reasons.
12. For obvious reasons: vì các lí do hiển nhiên…
Example: For obvious reasons, we have changed the names of the people in the article.
