1. Go wrong = If a situation or event goes wrong, it becomes unpleasant and is not a success: mọi chuyện bắt đầu không ổn…
Example: Our marriage began to go wrong after we had our first child.
2. Break (someone's) heart = to cause someone emotional pain, to make someone feel very sad or disappointed: làm tan nát trái Tim ai
Example: The man broke the woman's heart when he told her that he did not love her.
3. Break up with (someone) = to end a relationship with someone: chia tay, kết thúc mối quan hệ
Example: The couple broke up after dating for more than three years.
4. Split up (phrasal verb) /splɪt/: If two people split up, they end their relationship or marriage: chia tay
Example: She split up with her boyfriend last week.
5. Go off with sb (phrasal verb) /ɡəʊ/: to leave a wife, husband, or partner in order to have a sexual or romantic relationship with someone else: rời bỏ ai đó
Example: Did you know that Hugh had gone off with his sister-in-law?
6. Fall out (phrasal verb) /fɔːl/: to argue with someone and stop being friendly with them: cãi nhau, tranh luận
Example: She'd fallen out with her boyfriend over his ex-girlfriend.
7. Get off on the wrong foot with someone = to start off badly with someone: bắt đầu không có mối quan hệ tốt với ai…
Example: “She really got off on the wrong foot with her new boss.”
8. Give someone the cold shoulder = to intentionally ignore someone or treat someone in an unfriendly way: thờ ơ lãnh đạm với ai đó
Example: I thought she really liked me, but the next day she gave me the cold shoulder.
9. "On the line” = Sometimes you make choices that jeopardize things that you value. When this happens, you can say you’ve put something on the line. If you promise something and later do not follow through, you’ve put your good reputation on the line. Something is on the line when it is in danger of being lost: đang trong tìm nguy hiểm
Example: I put my relationship on the line when I moved abroad, but we’ve managed to stay together despite the distance.
