Một người hay tìm bắt những lỗi nhỏ nhất người Anh sẽ gọi là gì?
1. Pick holes in sth= to find mistakes in something someone has done or said, to show that it is not good or not correct.Khi bạn dùng cụm này có nghĩa là bạn tìm thấy lỗi lầm trong điều do ai đó nói hoặc làm. Tiếng Việt mình có cách nói tương tự là “bới lông tìm vết”. Ngoài ra bạn có thể dùng động từ SCRUTISE (mang nghĩa dò xét tỉ mỉ) nhé ạ.
2. Scrutinise (v) /ˈskruː.tɪ.naɪz/: to examine something very carefully in order to discover information - xem xét kĩ lưỡng
Example: He scrutinized the men's faces carefully/closely, trying to work out who was lying.
Nếu để chỉ 1 người nào đó hay bới móc, nhặt những lỗi nhỏ tí 1 thì người Anh sẽ dùng NITPICKER, FAULTFINDER hay ANALLY RETENTIVE nhé cả nhà.
3. Nitpicker (n) /ˈnɪt.pɪk.ər/: someone who finds faults in details that are not important - xoi mói
Example: The nitpicker in me had to mention that the flat wasn't completely clean.
4. Faultfinder = a person who habitually finds fault complains, or objects, especially in a petty way - bắt bẻ
Example: Faultfinders were quick to point out inconsistencies in the study.
5. Anally retentive = ANAL-RETENTIVE (a) /ˌeɪ.nəl.i rɪˈten.tɪv/: Someone who is anally retentive is too worried about being organized and tidy
Example: Don't you think Adrian's a bit anally retentive? Look how obsessively orderly everything is in his garage.
6. With a fine-tooth comb = If you go through something with a fine-tooth comb, you examine it in great detail and with great care.
Example: We have gone through the evidence with a fine-tooth comb.
NOTE: Nếu 1 ai đó tỉ mỉ, cẩn thận thì bạn sẽ dùng tính từ METICULOUS hoặc cụm PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS nhé ạ
