Well, I’m going to talk about a job I’d like to have. It is for sure “an air hostess”.

Being a cabin crew member can be very exciting and glamorous. You know they are the people who take care of customers who are traveling on planes - serving food, making sure they board and depart safely, and taking care of other issues.

This type of job can be done by men or women, but to be  a successful flight attendant, you must have the skills, personality and look to fit the description. For instance, you have to be at least 19 years old in most cases when you first apply and usually a certain height, not too small. Also, your weight needs to be in proportion to your height. So in other words, not overweight unfortunately. They also prefer people who are younger. So not just anyone can do it.

The thing that makes this job so fabulous is that it provides the opportunity to meet a good deal of interesting people. From VIPS to athletes and celebrities as well as normal, cool people. You are able to fly around the world, explore new places and get to meet new cultures. This job will broaden your horizon to a maximum and improve your interpersonal skill.

Regarding the skills, one of the most important thing you need is to have customer service skills. Your entire job is about ensuring that the customer is safe and happy. So, being courteous and positive are the key things because customers will expect the highest level of customer service. You will be chosen for the job on your bubbling personality so never forget that. For qualifications, you have to have a good GSCE or college certificate. I think that is it.

What I absolutely love about this job is because I love to see the rest of the world and I’d like to meet a lot of new people from different cultures and countries, as well as try out the nice and fancy hotels.

It’s actually something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time, since I was young, which I why I know so much about the requirements. I’m quite a confident person and have an outgoing personality so I think I have all the qualities that are needed for such a job. It’s my dream job so hopefully one day it will come true.

Vocabulary:

  1. Flight attendant = Cabin crew = Cabin staff - someone who serves passengers on an aircraft : tiếp viên hàng không
