1. Shaking like a leaf = If you say that someone is shaking like a leaf, you mean that their body is shaking a lot, for instance because they are very cold or frightened: Hoảng sợ đến phát run
Example: Mr Perone was so frightened that he was shaking like a leaf. 
 
 
2. Spread like wildfire = If disease or news spreads like wildfire, it quickly affects or becomes known by more and more people: Lan nhanh như lửa cháy
Example: The rumour spread like a wildfire. (Tin đồn lan nhanh như lửa.)
 
 
3. Go out like a light = to go to sleep very quickly or to become unconscious very quickly: Ngủ nhanh chóng
Example: As soon as my head hit the pillow, I went out like a light
 
 
4. Sell like hot cakes = to be bought quickly and in large numbers: bắn đắt hàng…
Example: The new record is selling like hotcakes. 
 
 
5. Sleep like a baby/ a log = Sleep well and undisturbed till you woke up: Ngủ say như chết
Example: After a long day of skiing, I slept like a log last night.
 
 
6. Smoke like a chimney = if someone smokes like a chimney, they smoke a lot of cigarettes or tobacco: Hút quá nhiều thuốc lá hoặc xì gà
Example: She still smokes like a chimney despite warnings from her doctor.
 
 
7. Like a thief in the night = secretly or unexpectedly and without being seen: lén lút
Example: In the end I left like a thief in the night, without telling anybody or saying goodbye.
 
 
8. Get on like a house on fire = If two people get on like a house on fire, they like each other very much and become friends very quickly: Có mối quan hệ tốt với ai
Example: Those two got along like a house on fire.
