Mặc dù có nhiều ý kiến chỉ trích show truyền hình này nông cạn và gượng gạo nhưng IELTS Trang Bec lại thấy tính giải trí cực cao và nếu bạn biết tận dụng để học ngữ điệu (intonation), accent (giọng điệu) cũng như vocab (từ vựng) của cả Anh Anh (British Accent), Anh - Mỹ (American Accent) hay Australian accent (Anh Úc) cực phong phú và tuyệt vời.
Cá nhân Trang Bec mê accent Anh Anh nên nghe giọng của Chloe chỉ muốn nghe đi nghe lại, bạn sẽ thấy thực tế trong giao tiếp hàng ngày người Anh bỏ chữ T rất nhiều như “water” bạn sẽ không nghe thấy chữ T được phát âm nữa. Hay accent của David cũng là người Anh nhưng giọng anh này tông hơi cao giống giọng Tom Holland không trầm nên không quá yêu thích. Tóm lại dù có nhiều ý kiến chê bai nhưng IELTS Trang Bec vẫn nghĩ cả nhà nên xem vì xem rất thú vị và có thể học được nhiều từ vựng hay. Khi xem nếu bạn có thể bật sub tiếng Anh lên nghe và ghi chú cách các thí sinh dùng các câu giao tiếp hàng ngày trôi chảy cực cực hay. Đây mới chính là giao tiếp hàng ngày mà kiến thức sách vở không bao giờ dạy chúng mình được. Thi thoảng ngoài lúc cày IELTS học thuật thì cách xem những gì khiến bạn vui và giải trí thì sẽ giúp bạn hấp thụ ngôn ngữ lên hơn gấp bội
1. Catch sb's eye = to get someone's attention: thu hút, hấp dẫn
Example: Harry caught my eye straight away.
2. Have your eye on someone = If someone has their eye on you, they are watching you carefully to see what you do.
Example: Chloe had her eye on Kori for sure.
3. That’s very peachy (a) /ˈpiː.tʃi/: very good: rất đẹp
Example: Everything in her life is just peachy.
4. Smoking-hot (a) = Very attractive; sexy (said of another person): hấp dẫn khó cưỡng, quá đẹp
Example: Francesca is definitely smoking hot.
5. Drop-dead gorgeous: đẹp tuyệt trần
Example: Without a doubt, Chole is drop-dead gorgeous.
6. Gain deeper-emotional relationships: có được mối quan hệ sâu sắc về mặt cảm xúc, kết nối hơn
7. I’m a deep thinker. I think about everything a lot. (Matthew): tôi là người sâu sắc, tôi suy nghĩa về mọi thứ rất nhiều
8. Abstain (v) /æbˈsteɪn/: to not do something, especially something enjoyable that you think might be bad: kiêng, tiết chế
Example: You will have to abstain from sexual practices fro the entirety of your stay (Lana).
9. Forgo (v) /fɔːˈɡəʊ/: to not have or do something enjoyable: kiêng
Example: I shall have to forgo the pleasure of seeing you this week.
Example: Forgo all sexual activity.
10. Virtual (a) /ˈvɜː.tʃu.əl/: Something that is virtual can be done or seen using a computer and therefore without going anywhere or talking to anyone: ảo
Example: I’m your virtual guide (Lana).
Example: virtual reality - thực tế ảo
11. Self-gratification /ˌɡræt.ɪ.fɪˈkeɪ.ʃən/ (n) = the indulgence or satisfaction of one's own desires: tự sướng
Example: No self-gratification is allowed during the retreat.
12. Rehabilitation (n) /ˌriː.həˌbɪl.ɪˈteɪ.ʃən/: the process of returning to a healthy or good way of life, or the process of helping someone to do this after they have been in prison, been very ill, etc.: sự cải tạo
Example: sexual rehabilitation
13. Stand your ground = to refuse to be pushed backwards, or to continue in your beliefs in an argument: giữ vững lập trường
Example: Clare stood her ground in the meeting and refused to be intimidated even when Michael got angry.
14. Jump the gun = to do something too soon, especially without thinking carefully about it: làm gì đó vội vã (quá sớm)
Example: They’ve only just met - isn't it jumping the gun to be talking about marriage already?
15. Gravitational forces: lực hấp dẫn, sức lôi quấn riêng - relating to gravity or gravitation (= the force that attracts objects towards one another)
Example: I have my own gravitational forces.
16. Aesthetically (adv) /esˈθet.ɪ.kəl.i/: in a way that relates to the enjoyment or study of beauty: có thẩm mỹ, đẹp
Example: I like objects to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
17. Fill a/the void = To replace someone or something that is absent or missing: lấp chỗ trống
Example: His wife died and he filled the void with cats and whiskey.
18. Play hard to get = to pretend that you are less interested in someone than you really are as a way of making them more interested in you, especially at the start of a romantic relationship: làm kiêu (chảnh)
Example: Why won't you call him back? Are you playing hard to get?
